Mark Few had his Gonzaga Bulldogs ready to play on Tuesday night in Las Vegas, there’s no doubt about it. Despite Saint Mary’s dismantling of BYU in the semifinal of the West Coast Conference Tournament, Gonzaga jumped out to a 39 to 18 lead over the Gaels.

A great deal of this can be attributed to Dickie V helping to warm up Przemek Karnowski

While the Gaels made a charge early in the second half, the Bulldogs slammed the door shut in large part thanks to Karnowski and Nigel Williams-Goss.

This win will only help strengthen Gonzaga’s case for a number one seed.

They weren’t the only team to win their conference tournament last night, though. Northern Kentucky won the Horizon League, Mount Saint Mary’s won the Northeast Conference, and South Dakota State won the Summit League. Congratulations to all of them for being 6 wins away from a championship! Even though it will probably be 7 in Mount Saint Mary’s case…

As for today, the Big Ten, Big East, SEC, PAC 12, and Atlantic 10 all have preliminary round matchups, but the basketball to watch will be in the ACC.

  • Miami vs Syracuse
  • Clemson vs Duke
  • Wake Forest vs Virginia Tech
  • Pittsburgh vs Virginia

Really freaking hard to believe that this doesn’t even include the top four seeds in the ACC. Duke will obviously be the attention getter here, but the basketball junkie should be checking out Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. Specifically, Wake’s John Collins is appointment television, averaging 19.1 points and 9.8 rebounds all while playing himself into being a potential lottery pick AND getting the Demon Deacons deep into the bubble conversation. I can’t decide which is more impressive!

Should be a fun day and it’s only going to continue getting better as the week goes. Make it count and happy hump day!
